I have sold a few properties in my time and have used a different agent each time. Mostly the experience left a bad taste in my mouth when I discovered I was manipulated and so was my buyer.
I found Charl after monitoring sales in the area and saw what great results he was getting - far out performing other agents. Charl also got a great result for me but that’s not the best part of my experience. The best part was his incredible professionalism and outstanding skills in communication and management of the entire sale process. From my end it felt seamless but he had some very tricky issues to manage with the buyer and flooding, managing it all so well and looked after my needs all the way.
I never thought I would ever be so grateful to an agent for supporting me so well but I am in this case. I would hands down never use anyone else. When we knew that we were looking to sell our property, we approached Charl as he had recently listed a similar house (Mid-Century Modern, Architectural) nearby, and we had received some marketing material that stood out when compared to others. After an initial consultation, we were confident that Charl was the right agent for us, and he was clear about the direction he intended to take, and was very open to our input in the 'story' to sell the house, which was important to us.
Charl was flexible with our timeline, which included purchasing another house, and provided project management help with us in last little items to prepare the house for sale. When it finally came time to list and sell the house, Charl worked non-stop from the moment it listed to the moment it sold, which was well over our high-end expectation, and it sold in a matter of days. They say that selling and buying your home are some of the most stressful experiences you go through in your life. This is why we had so much trepidation about putting our house on the market. Preparing a house for sale takes time and a number of tasks have to be ticked off before the launch. We were not in a position to complete any of the small improvements our house needed to truly shine again as we are such a busy family of two full time working parents and two very busy kids. Our lives are hectic and we had no emotional or mental bandwidth to add more to our already busy schedule.
But then, we talked to Charl Morkel. He was absolutely fantastic in explaining the process of preparing, listing and selling a property and immediately put our minds at ease. When your background is international sales and marketing to board level Execs in multinational corporations (like Charl's is), you do build up an understanding of how to get things into the public domain, and understand buying cycles and behaviours. Anyone selling a home would be missing valuable perspective if they did not (at least) interview Charl for the role as their agent. I had someone value my home once who said they had 20 years experience, but I learned quickly that they had 20 years experience of taking pictures and posting them in adverts; there was not the demonstration of real selling and marketing skills that I expected from a professional sales person. Charl has all these skills and more.
